Huesca, Aragon to Host the Michelin Spain Gala Dinner on December 1, Celebrating the Best of Aragonese Gastronomy and Wine
The prestigious event will bring together some of Aragon’s leading chefs and showcase a curated selection of regional wines chosen by Robert Parker Wine Advocate to accompany the gala dinner.
A press conference held on October 20 unveiled plans for the upcoming Michelin Gala, which will take place on December 1 in the town of Huesca in North East Spain, highlighting the excellence, diversity and distinctive identity of Aragonese gastronomy.
The culinary experience will be led by Carmelo Bosque of Lillas Pastia, joined by Iris Jordán of Ansils; Joseto Souto and Ramón Aso of Calizo; Eduardo Salanova of Canfranc Express; Manuel Vallés of Casa Arcas; Tonino Valiente of Tatau; and Toño Rodríguez of La Era de los Nogales. Together, these acclaimed chefs will showcase the creativity and talent that define the region’s culinary scene.
The Diversity and Quality of Aragonese wine in the spotlight
And there will be a spotlight, too, on Aragonese wine, with a selection curated by Luis Gutiérrez of The Wine Advocate. The ten wines chosen for the occasion reflect the diversity of Aragon’s wine-growing landscapes, grape varieties and winemaking traditions.
Manda Huevos Old Vine Macabeo 2024

Amongst the chosen wines is Manda Huevos 2024 by El Escocés Volante. Made from very old Macabeo vines planted at over 800m above sea level, this is a beautifully rich white with exquisite tension and balance.
And the name? The name we originally chose – Mandat Opus, a Latin legal term – is a nod to the Roman heritage of our region, and over time it has evolved into manda huevos, a Spanish colloquial expression conveying disbelief, frustration, or indignation along the lines of “you’ve got to be kidding me!”
Just as we were about to launch the wine, a certain Californian winery objected to the name, creating a real manda huevos moment for us.
Recognition of Aragon’s gastronomy and wines
The full list of selected wines (which can be seen here), underscore the richness, quality and potential of Aragon’s wine industry varieties. Deeply connected to their respective terroirs, these are wines with distinctive character, ranging from elegance and finesse to depth, structure and ageing potential.
Bringing the Michelin Gala to Aragon represents a strong endorsement of the region’s outstanding produce, agricultural heritage, exceptional vineyards and professional talent. The event offers a valuable platform to raise the profile of Aragonese gastronomy and celebrate the dedication of the producers, winegrowers, wineries and chefs who contribute to its growing reputation.
The initiative is supported by the Provincial Council of Huesca, Huesca City Council and the Government of Aragon, through Turismo de Aragón and Alimentos de Aragón.
