Mataquemada featured in Tapas Magazine

We are delighted to share that Mataquemada has been selected for inclusion in the latest edition of Tapas Magazine, which showcases 365 wines to enjoy all year round — a carefully curated collection highlighting one outstanding wine for every day of the calendar.

The guide celebrates the richness and diversity of Spain’s wine landscape, with wines chosen region by region by respected wine professionals. Selecting the wines from Aragón is Guillermo Cárcamo, sommelier at the acclaimed Callizo restaurant in Aínsa, who once again champions the quality, character and growing reputation of the region’s wines.

To have Mataquemada included in this year’s selection is a real honour. Being recognised by a sommelier with such deep knowledge of Aragón’s wine scene makes this acknowledgement especially meaningful.

The feature also places us alongside an exceptional group of wineries from across Spain, reflecting the remarkable diversity and excellence of Spanish winemaking. We are proud to be in such distinguished company and grateful that Mataquemada has been chosen as one of the wines to represent the spirit and potential of Aragón.

We would like to thank Tapas Magazine and Guillermo Cárcamo for including our wines in this guide. Recognition like this encourages us to continue our commitment to producing wines that express the unique character of our vineyards and the landscape we call home.

If you happen to pick up the latest issue of Tapas Magazine, be sure to explore the full selection of 365 wines— you’ll discover an inspiring journey through Spain’s extraordinary wine regions, and we’re honoured that Mataquemada is part of it.

Guillermo says of the wine:

“This is one of the most personal cuvées from Norrel Robertson, the Scottish MW based in Aragon. It comes from a high-altitude parcel in Torrijo de la Cañada, where historic Grenache vines still survive. It does not seek to be massive or easy, but to express the high-altitude landscape, decomposed slate soils and the area’s extreme climate with real clarity.
Why I chose it: it shows the evolution of Aragonese Grenache towards finer, more ethereal and precise styles, without losing identity.
Pairing: roast lamb, gently braised poultry, seasonal mushrooms or Aragonese cooking.”
