It appears that the Brits are enjoying Garnachas from Aragon!
A while ago we shared the news that the The Guardian had given good reviews of two Garnachas made by Norrel Robertson for Sainsbury’s in the UK, one from Calatayud and the other from Borja.
Since then, the Borja wine has featured as wine of the week, recommended by Helen McGinn, on Saturday Morning Kitchen (30/10/21). And on 14 November, the Calatayud Garnacha was included in the Observer’s list of 50 best wines for Christmas 2021.
Journalist David Williams says: “Scottish expat winemaker Norrel Robertson is a master of untapping the potential of the once-neglected, decades-old, garnacha bush vines of Aragon. He’s at it again here with a wine that gushes with bountiful paprika-inflected berry juiciness and soft tannin.”
